Monuments of Play

Debuting at the SAM Gallery at the Seattle Art Museum, during the Ai Weiwei Retrospective Ai, Rebel, DANKO's latest body of work delves into the tensions between “play” and structured competition. This work features themes of play using imagery of LEGO, basketballs and a character of his own creation shaped like a basketball named Zero– interspersed between colorful blocks meant to represent TV test signals and chalkboard illustrating game plays.
