MONEY BALL
AVAILABLE
This nine panel 48"x48" acrylic on wood painting recalls the poetry of a ball in midair, spinning in play. Each basketball panel is offset with a back mounted base, giving the illusion that it’s floating off the wall.
The destination of the ball is unclear. Is it the game winning shot? Is it a rebound? Or is it one of hundreds of practice free-throw shots. If you play close attention you can discern the outlines of a large white rock in the center of the balls, this is a reference to “the rock”, a euphemism for a basketball. This particular color way is the “money ball” used in three-point contests and was the original color way for the ABA basketball of the 1970's.
