The show will feature bigger and more abstracted versions of my iconic sculptural and multidimensional oil paintings. With this new work I ponder the power struggle between play and “keeping score”, as first explored in the themes of basketball.
For as far back as I can remember, art for me started as “play”. Throughout my youth I would often be sprawled in front of the TV with a heap of crayons and reams of paper. Over time my art practice evolved through work, design, communication, meditation, or an attempt to explore my own life. However the core of my practice has always circled back ideas of PLAY and optimism. –DANKO
